Holiday Inspiration

It is that time of year again and I’m starting to add little touches to our home to get it ready for the holidays. There are a few things I love about holiday decorating, and a whole host I’m on the fence about. Whenever I walk past a display of Christmas decorations I feel a little bit sad. Most are made of cheap plastics and will remain on this planet, eventually finding their way to…

Great Big Story

One of the things I like about writing a blog is seeing where I will get my ideas to write a post. Sometimes they are inspired by beautiful art, fashion I can’t stop thinking about, something I have read, or something I just need to get off my chest. It is such a great creative outlet and I like the exercise of asking myself what am I interested in today. I had a different post,…

I talk about the Pacific Northwest a lot here, but this region plays a big part in my life. In many ways I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I was born and lived anywhere else. Read all about the genius plan here, and feast your eyes below.

Fogo Island Inn

I’m indulging in a little wanderlust today, and dreaming about visiting the Fogo Island Inn off the coast of Newfoundland. Fogo Island is a small speck of land off Canada’s Northeast coast and it looks like just to thing to satisfy all my dreams of Atlantic Canada. Besides one trip in my teens I haven’t see much of our sister coast but my dreams are full of icebergs and brightly coloured outports. Beyond the appeal of…

The Get Down

We are living in a golden age of television. Movies seem to be stuck on repeat. Churning out reboots and spinoffs and crossovers but not much else. If I have to sit through one more dull, three hour long superhero movie I might lose it. Television on the other hand continues to reinvent itself. Attracted by shorter seasons and more control over content some of the most talented directors and actors in the biz are…

NY Times Interactive Stories

The Olympics coverage I have seen on NBC this year has been quite frankly not great. I’m not sure if it is the reporters, or the stale format, or that I haven’t had cable in almost fifteen years and have lost my tolerance for commercials, but it just doesn’t do it for me anymore. Listening to their pundits try to fill air time sounds a little like nails on a chalkboard. This pretty much cover…
